Wrap a cloth measuring tape around your head just above your eyebrows and ears. Pull the tape comfortably snug, read the length, repeat for good measure and use the largest measurement. A piece of string will work too, then just hold it up to a ruler and measure.

"I have purchased 3 Boston Scally caps for myself and The Responder (LEO) Scally for my father-in-law. While I LOVE my Boston Scallys for their fit, quality, feel and style, my FIL has never worn this style of hat (he's more of a baseball hat and fedora guy). So, I was apprehensive to get it for him. However, he is a proud retired LEO and God put it on my heart to get it for him. Long stroy short, my FIL LOVES his Boston Scally as much as I love mine! He was so genuinely excited; I could hear the joy and happiness in his voice. He talked for almost 10 minutes about how much he loves it and appreciates it. As an octogenarian viejito, he had to return it for a different size. Doing so gave him the experience about which he expressed a significant degree of satisfaction. "I ordered 3 hats at the same time, all the same size. Two out of the 3 fit perfectly. Unfortunately this one was too small although it was supposed to be the same size. My son who I ordered for is a police officer and this is the one that was most special to him when ordered."
