If you’ve seen the show Peaky Blinders, chances are you’ve been interested in buying one of their infamous hats. The flat cap has been around since the 14th century and has spent hundreds of years in popularity.
About the Peaky Blinders Cap
The show Peaky Blinders is based on a fictional family in post WWI Britain. It is based around a true life criminal gang in that era. The gang members were recognizable by their style which included flat caps and sectional caps, which they sewed razor blades into. Peaky was a nickname for the flat caps in that time.
These flat caps had eight panels. And while the original was a floopy 8 panel cap, it needed some adjustments for every day modern wear.
For years, we worked on developing an eight panel scally cap that looked just right. We had dozens and dozens of prototypes over the years, but they were never quite right. They were either too floppy, too small, too big—you name it.
Finally, we got it right. We were able to “Boston Scally-ize” the Peaky Blinders-style 8-panel cap. We gave it our signature form fit with a narrower look. It has a similar look and feel as the 6 panel, but with a slightly larger profile to give it an old-school look with a modern feel.
